Welcome to Meelanapp (“we,” “us,” “our,” or “Meelan”). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience on our mobile application (the “meelan”). This Privacy Policy outlines our practices concerning the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use our App and the choices you have associated with that information.

This Privacy Policy should be read in conjunction with our Terms and Conditions. By downloading, accessing, or using our App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy and consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your information as described here in.

  • Profile Information: You may choose to provide additional information for your profile, including your interests, hobbies, lifestyle preferences, partner preferences, and a personal description.
  • Communication Data: When you communicate with other users through our App (e.g., chat messages, expressions of interest) or with us (e.g., customer support inquiries), we may collect and store this information.
  • Sensitive Personal Information: Some of the information you provide, such as religious or caste details, health information (if you choose to provide it, e.g., disability), and biometric information (if used for verification in the future), may be considered “sensitive personal data or information” under applicable Indian laws. We collect this information only with your explicit consent and to provide our matchmaking services.

b. Information Collected Automatically:

  • Usage Information: We collect information about your interaction with our App, such as the profiles you view, features you use, searches you conduct, your interactions with other users, timestamps, and other activities on the App.
  • Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access our App, including the hardware model, operating system and version, unique device identifiers (e.g., IDFA, Android Advertising ID), IP address, browser type, language, and mobile network information.
  • Location Information: With your permission, we may collect your precise or approximate location information (e.g., GPS, Wi-Fi, cellular network) to help you find matches in your vicinity or to provide location-based services. You can control location data collection through your device settings.

c. Information from Third Parties:

  • AdMob (Google): We integrate AdMob, a mobile advertising service provided by Google, into our App. AdMob may collect and use information about your device, usage patterns, and interests to serve personalized advertisements. This may include device identifiers, IP address, and information about your interactions with ads. Google’s use of this data is governed by Google’s Privacy Policy. We do not have direct control over the information AdMob collects.
  • Other Third Parties: We may occasionally receive information about you from other sources, such as social media platforms if you choose to link your Meelan account with them, or from other users (e.g., if they provide information about you in their profile or communications).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To Provide and Improve Our Services:
    • To create and manage your Meelan account.
    • To facilitate matchmaking by generating and displaying profiles based on your preferences and our algorithms.
    • To enable communication between users.
    • To personalize your experience on the App.
    • To analyze usage trends and improve the App’s functionality, features, and user interface.
    • To develop new services and features.
  • For Communication:
    • To send you service-related notifications, updates, and administrative messages.
    • To respond to your inquiries and provide customer support.
    • To send you promotional messages and marketing communications (with your consent, where required by law).
  • For Advertising:
    • To display advertisements within the App, including personalized ads through AdMob. The information collected by AdMob helps in showing ads that are more relevant to your interests.
  • For Safety and Security:
    • To verify user identities and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse.
    • To enforce our Terms and Conditions and other policies.
    • To detect and address technical issues.

  • With Other Users: Your profile information (excluding contact details you choose to keep private) will be visible to other registered users of the App as part of the matchmaking service. You control what information is displayed on your public profile. We encourage you to be mindful of the information you share.
  • With Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party vendors, consultants, and other service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as cloud hosting, data analytics, customer support, payment processing (if applicable), and marketing. These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes for which it was disclosed.
  • With Advertising Partners (AdMob): As mentioned, we use AdMob for advertising. AdMob collects and processes data as described in their privacy policy to serve personalized ads. We do not share your directly identifiable personal information (like name or email) with AdMob for their independent use without your consent, but AdMob may collect device identifiers and usage data.
  • For Legal Reasons: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
    • Comply with a legal obligation or a request from law enforcement or other government agencies.
    • Protect and defend our rights or property.
    • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the App.

Our App may contain links to third-party websites or services that are not owned or controlled by Meelan. This Privacy Policy does not apply to the practices of third parties that we do not own or control. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing them with any personal information.

8. Children’s Privacy

Meelan is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18 (or the legal age of majority for marriage in your jurisdiction, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete such information as soon as possible. If you believe that a child under 18 may have provided us with personal information, please contact our Grievance Officer.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information, including personal data, may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers located outside of your state, province, country, or other governmental jurisdiction where the data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction. If you are located outside India and choose to provide information to us, please note that we transfer the data, including personal data, to India and process it there. Your consent to this Privacy Policy followed by your submission of such information represents your agreement to that transfer.

10. AdMob and Advertising Choices

As mentioned, we use AdMob to serve ads in our App. AdMob uses cookies, web beacons, and other technologies to collect information about your use of our App and other websites and apps over time to serve ads that may be of interest to you.

  • Personalized Advertising: You can often opt out of personalized advertising from Google (AdMob) by visiting Google’s Ads Settings (adssettings.google.com) or by using your mobile device’s advertising settings (e.g., “Limit Ad Tracking” on iOS or “Opt out of Ads Personalization” on Android).

12. AI and Automated Decision Making

 AI Verification Disclaimer: > Meelan employs Artificial Intelligence (“AI Agent”) to perform automated identity verification to prevent fraud and impersonation. While our AI is designed for high accuracy, it is not infallible.

  1. No Liability for Technical Errors: Meelan shall not be held liable for temporary delays or errors caused by the AI Agent in reading documents (e.g., due to poor lighting or blur,etc).
  2. Verification vs. Guarantee: A “Verified” badge indicates that the AI has matched the ID to the profile; it does not constitute a personal guarantee by Meelan regarding the user’s character or background.
  3. Right to Appeal: If the AI Agent rejects your verification, you may appeal the decision by contacting support@xfstech.com for manual intervention.

13. Consent

By using the Meelan App, you explicitly consent to:

  • The collection, use, sharing, and processing of your personal information (including sensitive personal data) as described in this Privacy Policy.
  • The display of advertisements, including personalized advertisements, through AdMob and other third-party advertising partners.
  • The transfer of your data to India if you are accessing the App from outside India.

If you do not agree with the terms of this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
